Honestly, I think it is a combination of the need for these transportation alternatives going up because of the price it takes to not only drive a car daily, but maintain it (those 5,000 mile checkups can be costly!), but also because it has become more socially acceptable to be energy conscious.  Ultimately, I guess we'll find out if gas prices stay low, whether that was the cause in any of this.
