These are some great tips. I would also include things such as bringing your shampoo and soap with you, re-using hotel towels more than once, and packing as light as possible, especially when flying. Love the tip about picking a green hotel, because it can drastically reduce your carbon footprint by supporting their green amenities.

This is a good list for traveling within the U.S, but I'd say that half of the tips are irrelevant for traveling in a developing country. For instance, traveling to Mexico I have never booked a room in advance, recycling barely exists, organic restaurants are always owned by expats instead of locals, etc... Traveling in Papua New Guinea. I stayed wherever I could and tried not to foist my values on the locals. Green travelling means imposing your values on the place you travel to, and that works better when your destination most closely resembles your own.
